A Good Deed for the Day

Several months ago, as I was in the process of replacing a digital camera -that died a day before we went to Disneyland- and a cell phone, I came across the Apple iphone. Apple had just dropped the price of the iphone and I read that the camera in the phone was as good, if not a little better than the one that died on us. So I decided to get it.
The phone is great. All of the pictures on this blog were taken with the iphone. We have become "picture takers" now that we have a camera on us everywhere we go. Last Friday as I was traveling home from the D.C. area I lost my iphone at the Dulles International airport. When I realized that it was missing I began retracing all of my steps. I searched every possible place that I had been in the terminal. I was sick inside. Having lost a phone before, I knew that the chances of finding it were slim to none. Not only was I distressed about the cost of replacing it, I thought about all of the contacts that were stored, the music saved on the ipod and the irreplacable pictures. As I spoke with an airport officer about the description of the phone, he told me to go ahead and cancel the service immediately, because I wasn't ever going to see it again.

When I arrived home from the airport and checked our answering machine, there was a message from the Dulles International Airport lost and found. Someone had turned it in. I called the airport and set up arrangements to have it delivered to my house, and before I hung up I asked if they knew who turned it in. The lady told me that she had no information about the person who found it.

Whoever you are, you made my day. And if you frequent random blog sites about family photos/vacations/gatherings and happen to stumble upon this one, thank you.
